are Fram even available here in Oz ??
If they are, they would only have a tiny, tiny % of the market.

AFAIK, the Australian Motorcraft AFL1 is made by GUD Ryco here in Oz.

Oh, and back when I used to buy spark plugs, most Oz Motorcraft plugs were re-badged Nippondenso's, including their race plugs.....

The only Fram which is worth installing is the Fram X2 Extended Guard.

Awesome filter.

Yes, it looks like a very nice filter, indeed. But, since it costs approx. $10, why not get a Mobil 1 for $10-$11?

The Fram X2 filter looks much better than the Mobil 1 filter. It looks very similar to the Hard Driver filter. For the money, I think that it is a better filter than the M1.

Do your Motorcraft plugs have the black ends on them like Autolites?

No, but other than that they are identical and apparently made in the same factory, according to a "buy union" webpage.

Well in all honesty I always use NAPA filters now, made by wix, but I feel the need to weigh in and somewhat "defend" fram.

I agree the other filters are better but I think fram are good enough and where I live fram ARE the cheapest filters by a small amount (less than a buck)

Mr roommate uses nothing but fram and his 97 toyota camry 2.2 has 360 000 kilometers on it and still runs like a dream.

Maybe it would run for 500 000 if he used wix or something, I'm just saying the statement that "Fram filters will make your car not work anymore" is mere jackassery

I was told once that the same people that make Autolite Plugs make Fram filters. Is this wrong?

I remember the tagline from the commercials from years ago: "FRAM...and Autolite...are Bendix companies"...but that was MANY years ago and both divisions have been sold who-knows how many times since then...I do know that, at least in the States, FRAM and Motorcraft filters are NOT made by the same company...FRAM used to be owned by Allied-Signal until a couple of years ago, is now owned by Honeywell; Motorcraft filters are made by either Champion Laboratories (OEM) or Purolator (aftermarket).

One case doesn't disprove something. There are many documented Fram failures. Will they fail everytime on everything, no, but they can and do fail.

I agree with Ruking77. If Fram were as bad as they appear on this board, Fram should have been out of business years ago. Yet they continue, and are flourishing with WalMarts now stocking them in greater quantities

THAT IS HOW OBSCURE A FILTER IS.

And that, ladies and Gentlemen,is WHY you see nothing but FRAMs on Wally-Worlds' shelves...
