Is flu worse than Covid? Yes!!!

Brother In Law took his family to MSG last Saturday for a Rangers game and all came down with the Flu this week. They’re all in a hurt locker.

They're both respiratory illnesses and contagious. They have nearly identical symptoms. They both are caused by a virus, albeit a different virus for each.

Either way, how in the world is this not locked up yet ? 😂

Nobody is getting terribly argumentative nor giving medical advice.

I’d just note that how bad a viral illness is depends on many factors. Some people have died of measles. I’ve had COVID. Feel fine now. Had multiple vaccinations. Didn’t feel great, but at no point did it feel like I was going to suffer long term. But that was me. Doesn’t mean that COVID at one time wasn't worse than the flu, especially without vaccines or developed immunity. For some, COVID-19 has been asymptomatic.

Covid round 1 was awful. I havent been that sick since I was a little kid. Round 2 was cake. Minor flu symptoms for a few days but still got the 10 days off. My mom never recovered from the C-Vax. Still has a long list of problems that need constant treatment.

My wife returned from Florida visit to son’s new house and a day later has came down with a bad case of RSV or something like that. She has coughed nonstop for a week. I think I’ll be ok as long as she stays on her side of the house lol.
I haven’t had the flu for years and have never had Covid…..knock on wood…. But my daughter is an ER nurse and she says they are covered up with patients. Many are simply placed on beds in the hallways for hours while waiting to be admitted.

Just now going through my first case of flu in a good twenty years and it is nothing nice.
It's no worse by any means. It's just a normal winter flu.

This thing is going around already a couple of months. A lot of my friends got it. It's interesting because you don' get high temp.
I went through that flu or whatever virus it is 3 weeks ago. It was bad just the first 3-4 days and after the 5th day it started to going down. After the 7th day, I was fine and I was going to work all that time.
I don't like any synthetic meds, so I didn't any medications, except a few alka zeltzer the first day. I beat it only with hot tea, vitamins and supplements and nasal rinses.

The infection definitely starts in the nose/sinuses and then spreads down the throat and lungs. If you don't take serious care on time it may cause bronchitis or even pneumonia.

It irritated a lot my sinuses because I have already sinusitis. It tried to go to my lungs too, but I stoped it right form the beginning with old fashioned overnight compresses and hot tea. I big job did this nasal rinse that is sold in Walmart for about $12:

https://shop.neilmed.com/products/neilmed-sinus-rinse-kit-with-60-packets

I have the bottle form a couple of years ago. Instead of buying extra packets I make my own solution which is 1g of salt and 1g of baking soda. That'a also the actual ingredients of the packets they sell - sodium chloride and sodium bicarbonate. I was doing nasal rinses several times a day and it helped me a lot.

Also excessive doses of all vitamins (mostly C, D, B), including elderberry capsules and tea, and also turmric + black pepper capsules.
After the 3rd week I still has some mucus sliding down my throat and minor cough.

Spoke to my pharmacist yesterday and he said the current flu shot only offers minimal protection against the current strain which mutated in England as he said. He still recommended getting vaccinated however.

i had covid a couple of weeks ago according to my expired test . All i got was a bad cough and sinus issues , which i get with any virus. no fever , no loss of appetite or any of the normal stuff. just a lot of congestion and sinus draining .

took me a about 10 days to get over it completely . it was a lot less severe than the flu i recall from the past . i have not taken the flu shot in years and only took the first 2 covid shot years ago .

in the past , everytime i took a flu shot i got sick. After i while i put 2 and 2 together and have not had the shot for close to 15 years and have not had the flu since .

I think i got it from the grocery store as I am usually isolated. It's really bad. Yesterday was malaise and last night and now its fierce. Pain everywhere, teeth, face, head ,neck, really bad in the back.
I went to bed yesterday at 4pm and can't even get up.

Sneezing and sore throat... I haven't been able to get up for meds.

Covid was worse but not by much.
Avoid this crap if you can fellows
The headache and face pressure is a killer

All kinds of nasty stuff has been floating around the shop at work. Month ago I had just a normal cold, was pretty bad for a day, but cleared up. There's been several out for Covid recently and I thought I escaped it. Went in to work Friday feeling okish, just a little sinus stuff. Everyone has been having a weird cough or sinus issues, so I figured nothing of it. Started feeling really weird, told the manager I'm outta here for a Covid/Flu test. Sure enough, I think I'm #5 or #6 to get it. Oh well, nothing you can really do about it. As long as I don't do anything strenuous I'm fine. Have like 25% of my smell/taste, so not completely gone. My 3rd time getting it, and it's the mildest one.

I did have a craving for garlic bread yesterday, and knew I couldn't (well I could, but I'm not a jerk) go to the store so I figured out how to make bread since I had all the ingredients on hand. So there's that :ROFLMAO:

No vaccinations here of any kind, seasonal or C. Mild case of C fall 2022 with a sore throat. Wife brought it home from her mother's long term care home. No flu or colds since then. The only supplement I use is D3 drops daily. And I interface with alot of people daily. Cross my fingers. Knock on wood.

I had that a few years ago and it was BRUTAL. Only really bad for a day but it was a terrible day.

I had Covid once and was quite sick for a week but I’d take that over norovirus anytime! Everyone’s experience varies, of course.
Two winers ago I norovirus. I vomited 22 times in 48 hours. Unlike most stomach bugs where you get a bit of relief, this was non-stop nausea. It was the worst I ever had. Absolutely brutal.

Just now going through my first case of flu in a good twenty years and it is nothing nice. I still vividly remember the last one and it was pretty bad as well and I was of course much younger then. I'm over the hump now, but today I still feel very weak. Went to the doctor yesterday and she prescribed some palliatives which did seem to help my sleeping last night. I am vaccinated of course, lot of good that did.
Two years ago I had Covid and it was bad, but not as bad, although more persistent. Doctor prescribed similar palliatives, since it is a similar respiratory infection of a different class of virus with similar symptoms. Vaccinated with a number of boosters, which did a lot of good.
Agreed.
