I bought my B&G machine at an auction and it was FULL of debris. took a while to flush it clean and make sure it was ok to use. It was from a local shop that folded.

But it should be noted that even a 4k (original price) machine was nothing more than a tank, a bladder, a sight glass, and a large tray of fittings...

Steve thats how all the ones i have seen are. People claim there is another type out there that has a pump or something, i don't know i haven't seen one.

Because those transmissions were already neglected and dying. They were brought in and flushed as a Hail Mary last resort. They were already destined to die and the moron customer blames the last mechanic to touch it after it breathes its last.

It is a myth perpetuated by ignorance.

Dexron VI ran poor in my 2005 Chevy Impala 3.8. I used Mobil but when the fluid heated up, it would slip a bit. It never did that before. I was quiet worried. I dumped it and used Valvoline MaxLife and its back to normal.

I wouldn't use Dexron VI in an old transmission.

I believe Dexron VI replaced Dexron III in the 2007 or 2008 model year. From what I understand, since it replaces Dexron III, GM does not even do any licensing for Dexron III specs anymore. I have a 4T40 in my Cavalier and dropped the pan replaced it with an ACDelco filter and Dexron VI (purchased from a Chevy dealer at around 160,000 miles or so). Seemed fine. I noticed at around 197-198,000 miles it felt like it was slipping slightly on the highway and I dropped the pan and replaced fluid with Maxlife and it has been working great for the last 10,000 miles since then.

I did a total fluid replacement on my original th400 built in 1967. The transmission has never once slipped and I have never seen oil temps above 190* using just the stock in radiator cooler in stop n go traffic with 100* ambient temps. Dex VI is good stuff.
