Is Auto-Rx needed for transmission?

I've had the transmission fluid and filter changed on both my vehicles (1994 Olds Cutlass Supreme 3.1L - 182000 miles and 1999 Chevy Suburban 5.7L - 113000 miles) in the last year.

Here's my question . . . should I use Auto-Rx in the transmission of both vehicles? Why or why not? If I do, will I need to replace the filter in each vehicle?

One last note - I'm considering the possibility of changing the transmission fluid in both and going with synthetic. Thoughts?

I think at this point (mileage) in your vechiles lifes....I would just stay with the exact ATF you have been using. Why, the friction material in the transmissions have used Dino ATF for so long...at this point (Surbie marginal)...you could do some friction harm.

The Auto-Rx would do a good cleaning of the varnish over time and you could just keep a 25,000K OCI of the transmissions on Dino.

If you do want to change to synthetics, do the Surbie and leave the Olds alone...heck it is closing in on 200K.

Thanks for the feedback, LargeCarMan. Any thoughts on replacing the filter if Auto-Rx is used - even though they were replaced not too long ago?

I would add the Auto-Rx and do a service/with filter when ever Auto-Rx stated to do so. The filter will hold some grime, but I feel the draining of the fluid is the key to getting the gook out with ATF and Auto-Rx. Your current filter and ATF should be fine, just add the Auto-Rx. But others with Auto-Rx experience will chime in, I am sure.

When I service my transmissions every 25K, the ones on Dino... I change the filter every time and replace one of the QT's of the refill with Trans-X transmission cleaner. I have never used Auto-Rx, but from reading how it works...it is the best method for you if you never have done a cleaning of the transmissions.

I haven't cleaned the transmissions, so you're probably right. I've used Auto-Rx in both engines with spectacular results!

Transmissions are closed units. Please visit www.auto-rx.net. Cleaning & Draining unit needs to include torque converter. I like T-Tec application for both removing old contaminated fluid and refilling with fresh product. Filters clean up using this process. I know of no need to change them out.
