is 303 really worth the money?

I like product from lexol, it's called vinylex. I have had very good results with it. Seems to contain a good amount of UV protectant. It does not leave a glossy shine and does not feel greesy.

303 is good stuff, but is water based, which means it will run off when it rains. I use it primarily on the interiors and the engine compartment. Also looks good on tires, but will not stay long.

I was a user of 303 -- until I tried Surf City Dash Away. If you want 0 shine, try it. 303 has some sheen, smells bad, and does not clean at all. Dash Away has excellent cleaning ability, UVA/B protectant, and smells good.

I found 303 late last year so I haven't had much experience using it yet. So far I have no complaints though.

Which products are you people using? 303 seem to have quite a few products for different applications. I wouldn't expect their protector to clean, for example.

I use 303 on my S2000 twice a year, I use it on everything except the steering wheel (learned that the hard way). I can't speak too much to the protection it offers but it's not too glossy and dirt doesn't stick to it as it does with something like Armor All, which is why I like it since I often park with the top down.

Another poster mentioned tires. Interesting. I'll have to try that.

I use 1Z deep cleaner for rougher lower inner door areas like kick panels, and 1Z Cockpit Premium for softer plastic/rubber areas of dash/console areas. (and sometimes BMW interior cleaner, which is not very different from 1z CP).

I haven't used anything on tires yet.

303 is absolute [censored] and worthless. I have posted pics and info years ago about this snake oil product.

It might be more instructive if you offered a reason for saying this, and had something to back that up, and then maybe suggested an alternative.

He had a grill cover fade in the sun after applying 303 to it. Grill cover die was deffective as some members pointed out. 303 is good stuff no question.

There was no defect in cover or the die. If you looked at the pic look at the sides of the cover no problems at all. 303 did nothing to help the cover fade and I often wonder if it actually made it WORSE! I put the junk on my plastic headlights and they turned yellow within the same year. Does anyone have any real test? How about someone clean up a dash and apply half 303 and half anything else.

My E-150 has 10 years on your Tacoma and the dash looks like it did the day I picked it up. 303 is good stuff.

I Knew a thread about 303 would draw out 2Fast4U. It didn't work for him so the product is garbage, every one else is wrong. Its an excellent product for the interior plastic of a car. It can be a little messy in application, and try not to get it on the glass, but if you get it for a decent price go for it.

I don't think 303 necessarily harmed anything I put it on, but it sure was greasy and not very effective.

Greased up the tonneau cover on my old truck with that junk and the next time it rained...wow, what a mess! I tried the Honda vinyl & rubber protectant that came in a detailing kit with my dad's Civic and it worked beautifully. I bought a bottle of the Honda stuff from the dealer for something like $7. I don't think Mother's VLR was around then, but 303 was all the rage for some reason. I bought that bottle of bacon grease at Bass Pro for probably way too much.

Mother's VLR is all I really need anymore. For most vehicles that's probably the case. 303 is overrated Armor All.

I have heard that Armor All caused paint chipping on GM dashes in the late 1990s/early 2000s, particularly on the Silverado, but that may be anecdotal.

I picked it up about a year ago mainly since it got good reviews and it doesn't make the interior all shiny/greasy.

Instructions say to apply every 5 weeks or so, but realistically I use it about 3-4 times a year.

I'm using Vinylex recently. Says it keeps the plasticizers in the plastic so it does not crack or get brittle.

My experience with 303 is that you have to wipe it down with a dry cloth. I haven't had any greasiness with it doing it this way.

I usually lightly buff it out too so greasiness is not an issue.
