Different chips though. The CPU in the LTE SGS3 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon (Krait) piece. It has an 11-stage pipe.
While both CPU's are ARMv7 based, they may have different pipe depths (remember Athlon vs P4? both x86 CPU's...)
What I think is neat is the difference in performance for for the particular sections, as per my earlier post:
iPhone 5:
Integer: 1220
Floating Point: 2051
Memory: 1811
Stream: 944
SGS3 LTE (dual core):
Integer: 896
Floating Point: 2339
Memory: 1257
Stream: 440
The Apple A6 appears to do integer and streaming better, as well as having better memory bandwidth (though this may simply be due to the choice of memory chips in the device), whilst the higher clocked CPU does floating point better, which is to be expected.
What I'm curious about is what improves with Jelly Bean? I mean if guys can get 1800+ on the benchmarks with it, parts of the above are obviously being improved significantly. So I'm curious as to what those things are.
