And VASO is finally climbing out of the toilet!

We closed under the 200 dma on the DJI! We have a chance to rally a bit the next day or so and pop back above the 200 day. If we don't ..............carnage!

Z - congrats, you beat the experts!

I actually was wrong in my calcs. I had grabbed my March 04 statement (don't ask) Jan 1 2004 - today = +4.8%!!!! I had a killer Jan and Feb and forgot all about it. (VASO went over $2 and I sold a ton, I sold Merck, Pfizer and Disney...)

Amkeer - how does the low volume fit in equation?

Indecision and lack of commitment from buyers and sellers for the low volume. Technically we are at a crossroads on the charts.

I sold another 10,000 shares of VASO today (a good thing), then when it popped up some more I went to sell 5000 more and suddenly my account says I don't have the shares to sell. I'm friggin' pist. I call Fidelity, connect with a trading specialist and get put one hold, for him to find the answer!!!! 15 minutes later I hung up!!!

I like a lot of things about Fidelity and for a megacompany they have been great to me for the most part, they treat me nice, give me the lowest big trader rates....but about once a year I have a trading glitch!!!

Got a lady trader to help me (it's been years since I traded on the phone) Wow - she was great....sold ALL my VASO today, plus just waiting the share prices went up.

She 'splained the glitch to me too.

P,
Thanks!
As for January....it was indeed a very good month. I should've sold all my LU shares then and re-buy them a few weeks ago. Seems to me that's exactly your strategy......stick with the stocks you know......sell 'em high.....buy 'em low! It's a learning process.

Pabs,

Short term overbought, however my daily chart formations indicate that the naz has an oppurtunity to climb further to around 1900 near term. Moves below 10094 should be viewed as a reversal on the djia.

Wow...it seems intuitively interesting that NASDAQ composites are "overbought". I think QQQ was launched (or should that be "lunched"

) in 2001. It's basically been down since.........now when you study some history, you can see how lofty the NASDAQ was in the late 1990's.

Z - please, I am no one to emulate. Sure I study history charts, and I do OK (slow and steady by acting fast...). I don't always stick with stocks I know. Quite honestly I learn of decent companies/funds in: IBD, Barron's, WSJ, Businessweek, the web, funds reports (no joke - I have seen some good picks owned by good funds...quite surprising actually).....I even bought LU and turned it because of you guys.

But my major weakness? I practice early withdrawal contraception. Not very pleasurable when..........the stock goes up 5 the day after you pulled out!!!!

p,
A profit is a profit, is a profit......no matter how small. Then again, your nerves might need checking!

Z - I guess, but I have some ethics...maybe that is my problem. I get burned when I get greedy, so I sell when I'm up...up enough...

Not bragging or anything but scroll up and check the list of companies I posted (on Monday, no?). Tell me you couldn't have sold them at a profit later in the same week? ASE was the star but the others did OK. The only one I haven't sold is IWZ, but that really was a longer position ETF (Russell 3000 growth)

The only reason I didn't lose my a$$ 2000-2002; largely cash positions and lots of bonds. But my equity funds took a hit, but the Fidelity fund I had/have held their own. Of note: The Fidelity S&P fund announced (on Tues) they will lower the fees to always be less than Vanguard 500!!!
