Anyone have any better long treasury ETF / Fund than TLT.

Not interested in the strips. I want the coupon while I wait.

Only interested in treasuries. Likely will buy TLT soon if there aren't better options.
I have @Zee09 sized money in JPST

SGOV

Really doing fine

Hi gentlemen, I haven't been in stocks for some years. I've lost some money in them (usually holding the bag too long) so I have not been too motivated to invest until recently. I have been reading through this blog and I have a little bit of money I should invest. I know AI/SEMI, Energy, and Financials are good right now. Risk tolerance is moderate and time frame is 20 years. I'd like to build something for the future and ideally be able to have something to give my kids. Any advice?

I know but was trying to clear your thinking! Haha I never do good with long bond funds
Fortunately I am good at procrasinating. 2/3 a point on a bond is a lot.

What your asking for is fiduciary advice, and none of us is your fiduciary.

What Buffet used to tell people, is just put it in a S&P 500 fund. The big 401K type outfits like Vanguard offer target date funds - like maturity 2045 fund - and then they manage the mix. Not saying any of these are right for you, but that is what those groups traditionally said.

If its a lot of money you might want to go visit an advisor at wherever you keep your money, and then we might be able to answer specific questions on whatever they recommend?

A lot of the advice you seek is based on many factors, like age, wealth, goals, appetite for risk, income needs from the investment, tax situation, and so on. The one important thing to take advantage of is no tax on a fairly generous first bracket for qualified dividends / long term gains. From the IRS:

Capital gains tax rates

Net capital gains are taxed at different rates depending on overall taxable income, although some or all net capital gain may be taxed at 0%. For taxable years beginning in 2025, the tax rate on most net capital gain is no higher than 15% for most individuals.
A capital gains rate of 0% applies if your taxable income is less than or equal to:

  • $48,350 for single and married filing separately;
  • $96,700 for married filing jointly and qualifying surviving spouse; and
  • $64,750 for head of household.

Since this is an investors forum-blog and not a stock market forum i personally have made most of my money on real estate .

Vacant land and lots have made me good money... You can look at my Florida thread and this below...which is a crap shoot but even adds to your investment if you are lucky and do your homework
Best of luck to you and I admire you for looking forward for your family

You constructing a barbell?
Of sorts. In at 85.80 for 1/3 of my desired amount. Buying in thirds
Planning on yield cuts?
Oil shocks tend to be deflationary. I don't expect a huge crash but if it goes back to 4.5% (and we were there in November) that implies a 6% gain. And I get paid 5% to wait.

If inflation goes the other way I am well positioned for that.

This is in one of my IRAs so I just reinvest the interest in more shares

PLTR gives easily $2k dollars daily on 500 shares but I lost trust in it and May 4 and 5 th is a bit risky and all the agenda ridden stock rags are spewing their propaganda ..
Finding the bottom can be tough on a stock like PLTR
