You are neglecting the compounding effect you lost on the tax you paid on the initial Roth investment.
Generally speaking, a Roth IRA makes more sense if you are a lower income earner, or expect to be in a high income bracket in retirement.

You are correct, that’s the basic premise. I never understood how it could be in a higher income bracket in retirement or even if I’m in the same bracket be drawing more income. But according to the calculations, I will be. Hopefully that is.

Many people here are saying that. Sounds like a OK problem to have.

If I am anywhere close I will at minimum take residence in a state with no state income tax.

My real concern is once the trust funds run out they will likely start means testing or changing the rules.
Yes, very scary. I’m only 52, and I planted delay until 70. Originally, I had planned to draw Social Security immediately and invested, but numbers are saying different.

Good luck. Sounds like you are on track. I can tell you, after being homeless, financial security in retirement is a wonderful feeling. So many fail to squirrel away some of their hard earned cash.

Again, good luck. Stay on the path!

One of my biggest mistakes was to take SS early....Totally Dumb, unless you ready need. Its like money in the bank.

At least wait to the age where you get full SS benefits based on your age. It takes around 10-11 years for starting at 70 to cross over if you start at the earlier full benefits age. And if you don't expect to live much longer than 10-11 years, it's better to start SS at your full benefits age vs later. Plus, SS might be drastically cut back after 2030 (unless something is done about that ... crickets), so that's another consideration that wasn't in the picture until not long ago.

Dunno; that depends on several factors. What happens if you don't live to 70, or much past?

Personally, I figured if I saw a $20 bill on the ground, would I wait 5 years to maybe get $25?

Thank you! I am glad you are no longer experiencing homelessness. I am involved in our local social services organization with primary services that support the homeless. I can only imagine. Blessings to you!

I have read many times to take at 62 and invest it....

Now I am considering delaying as long as I can.
It is better to take early and invest, in most cases IF you have the discipline.

It's a wash if you don't really need the money.

It's best to wait if your genetic lineage goes 95-100 years plus, you eat right and are very active and you have possible diminishing dollar resources as you age

Take early if you really need the money and/or say you have aging parents with lots of money and one or no other siblings.

I hope you guys are getting my point here on SS $.

Wow dude you are out of touch with the little man.....
SS. Is good for four Dunkin Donuts runs per month with coffee being optional...
The pampered rich like yourself do not pick through the trash for daily sustenance. You do not live in a state of constancy like the rest of us. To each their own...
