There are tariffs on many goods now and have been for years / ever. The entire reason for the BMW plant in South Carolina is to get around the chicken tax / tariff.
What’s quite interesting and really cool about that plant is it’s BMW‘s largest plant in the world
I’m a bit of a fan boy of the cars.
I never owned one, but I vicariously live through the two that my son has🙃

His next new one should be in by July a new M series electric vehicle. He gets about two a year. I lose track.

They export 60% of the cars they build in South Carolina and China is their biggest customer.
It’s kind of cool seeing a success story like this even if it’s not an American company.

Spot on. BMW puts a lot of Americans to work which supports the local community and beyond.
Just like Toyota, Honda, etc.

Supporting the American worker is a high priority to me.

Not only that but a significant percentage of workers are associated with those manufacturing plants whom work for other companies that supply the parts to the automotive builders like BMW.
For example, let’s say the door panels. Those are made by a secondary company that delivers that panel for that specific car at the assembly line the very minute that it arrives at that point on the line.
Every BMW car is built to order.

I’ll be helping by going down to the liquor store tomorrow to help clean out the last of the Jim Beam and JD. After that. No more. :D
I didn’t make it in time. I talked to the store manager and they had orders to clear out a goodly amount of US booze and sent it back to the warehouse. Here is an actual pic of of some signs on the shelves. The JD and Jim Beam is sitting back at the warehouse. I’m not trying to get a reaction, just try to give folks the pulse up here. Also, in British Columbia, booze from Blue States is welcome. Still a good selection of California and Washington wines. Don’t shoot the messenger. ;)

I would make bets all that bacardi is from the botting plant near JAX. A red county in a red state.

I’m shocked the good shape the market is in today. Good news for me. Tomorrow could be another story but it’s not about the tariffs. It’s about a market with extraordinarily high PE ratios.
Enter a new administration that is turning the world upside down makes people nervous and creates uncertainty

Good news is the United States is flush with make believe cash and who the heck knows? I guess certainly better than the rest of the world.
Wish I knew, who doesn’t, but I’m so glad I didn’t sell Meta today. When the insanity ends, I do not know.😜

Bitcoin conceptually is stored in a "block-chain", which is a digital ledger propagated many times across various bitcoin servers. The Servers are the bitcoin "miners". Every so often the algorithm passes out another coin and that goes to a miner - some of it random, but the more effort you put into "mining" the more likely you are to getting a coin. My understanding is there will only ever be 21M bitcoins, and were a few years away.
Sounds like something a video gamer came up with. Go looking ("mining") for some elusive money in the digital world and maybe rewarded, lol.

All the power to them. I salute Canadians right to drink what they want, and reject what they want. Of course the USA can do exactly the same. I would say doing some calculus north of the border would prove beneficial. Try to figure out how it will ultimately work out for them. Good Luck!

I always keep a fluid mindset, I can readily reevaluate anything at anytime. To this end, my trip I planned here

is off. I hear the US anthem is being lustily booded in basketball and hocky arenas, and the the aforementioned boycott is in progress, so I will help out the Canadian cause. I will keep my vacation, and my US money at home. Good thing this happened now, I was about to book extended Canadian travel this week. MT, ID, WY, here I come!

Spot on, again. When NUMMI closed, the local economy was hit hard. People lost homes, restaurants and the like lost business. Again, that was a key reason wifey and I bought the '18 Model 3 Mid Range.

We all gotta eat and I like to support the locals if possible.

both canada and mexico tariffs paused for 30 days. I bet the China one will stay. Today was my favorite Shakespeare play, Much ado aboot nothing.

OH! Hmmm, Did Canada and Mexico finally agree that it's a good idea to stop the flood of fentanyl poison and illegals into the USA?

Like, without threatening with tariffs, they were going to turn a blind eye to the literal poisoning of the US? Is this what people are fighting over????
