So like many public companies my employer has trading windows where employees are allowed to buy/sell company stock. These windows last for just a couple of weeks 4 times a year. For the past few years I had some inheritance money sitting in a IRA money market fund just because I really wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it and didn't need to bother with RMD's. Last summer I was thinking that I should just plow it all into company stock, but I got distracted by death of a pet and consequently missed the trading window. The last trading window was in mid-November and prior to it opening up a hedge fund took a huge position driving up the stock 3x and has since gone up 8x. I missed a once in a lifetime opportunity and I'm absolutely sick about it. Unbelievable.
Don't beat yourself up about it. We all should have bought google in 2006. We all knew we should, and we all didn't. Same scenario.

It gets worse. In 2006 I had no idea how Google could make money. So, I passed. Bright Pablo, absolutely brilliant.
Around that time I loved to buy books on Amazon. I thought about buying Amazon. But everything I read was that Amazon wanted to sell $100 for $99 on the internet, but there weren't enough $100 bills, so they sold books instead. So I didn't buy Amazon. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :p

Man don't kick yourself! I missed so many great things I can't count them all. Key is to invest regularly, consistantly, and have lots of patience. Most people feel the sting of a loss or missed opportunity much greater than a "win". I have to remind myself of that often. In other words, focus on what you accomplished, I am sure you have done VERY WELL overall.

Sorry you missed the opportunity. Ya never know what's gonna happen, which is why when I hear people trying to time the market, I just wish them good luck. Slow and easy, long term for me. I maxed out the stock purchase program when I started many years ago.

I saw Netflix as a $.10 penny stock. I remember thinking (scoffing and amused by the notion) "WHO is going to order movies online and then have to wait for it to arrive...and then mail it back when you can just run down to Blockbuster?!? Pffft!"🤬

One of the original Netflix locations is around the corner from me in a smallish building. I think Netflix started in Scotts Valley, in the Santa Cruz Mountains about 15 miles from me.
The new Netflix is also around the corner and is a drop dead gorgeous palace.

Or Walmart in the 1970s when many of us when we were young.
Without going back to check from what I previously read based on memory of reading it. $5000 of Walmart back in the early 70s is 74 million today.

With technology, my wife and I have pretty much always been at the forefront in our home. We always kick ourselves and say why did we bad by this company or that company?
One time around 2002 I purchased a Google computer. I figured it must be good.
The thing is, it wasn’t a Google search engine company computer. But it was a Google computer as far as the company who was selling them.
I should’ve jumped into the search engine Google at the time or so many other companies that slipped through my fingers because we were purchasing things since around 1996 or 97 online

Prediction:

Tesla will surge after Musk buys TikTok. I'll wager he pays $50B or higher with the deal completed by February.

Well, I am still fully in this market, was torn a month ago if I should get out, glad I didnt.

Largest and long term - WMT well up over 100% I get confused as to my gains with the extra shares I got in the split and dont care to figure it out except I am happy.
Short term - META purchased first week of Sept 2024 - Up 28%
Short Term - AMZN purchased 1/7/2025 - up 5%

The 2 short term buys are all over the board on any given day. The AMZN purchase was pretty much spare change that wasnt invested. Have no opinion on it. Could be gone anytime if I like anything better or whatever.

Important to note, these are unrealized gains, 99% fully invested, what is today, can be wiped out tomorrow but right now it puts a smile on my face when I look at my account. :)
