I previously had Comcast with 25 download and upload speed and I switched to Fios. I have been disappointed so far. I currently have 50/50 with Fios and don't see any improvement, in fact Comcast went to HD immediately whereas Fios initially buffers when streaming from the internet. I recently checked my speed as it seemed slow and my download speed was 11 with the 50/50 Fios. After trying different settings they sent me the latest and greatest router and now the HD stream quality seems to have dropped off but the speed is up where it should be. When I start my laptop, wifi signal is full strength and sometimes it will still not connect. I have to disconnect the full signal connection and reconnect to be able to connect to the internet.
Comcast used to have a 250 gig per month limit and I asked if that was still the same at the local Comcast company store and she couldn't answer, said I would have to call them to find out. We will be going to 3 HD tvs from 1 and I am concerned with additional HD streaming and viewing if we would have problems staying within the monthly limits set by Comcast. I think you can pay more for additional 50 gig chunks of monthly useage but it does not seem cost effective. I will say that in my experience Comcast has better internet than Fios.
I was wondering if anyone has Comcast Xfinity with heavy internet use and whether they have problems staying within the limit. The other thing was that with Comcast I had my own router (Netgear) and I don't know if that is what made it better or not. The Fios one has a coaxial cable connection that you have to connect the cable to the router for service and my Netgear doesn't have that. They say you can connect the Fios router to another router but I don't know how that would work.
