Moderators please move if not the right location, I remember Or misremember there used to be a “fleet” category.

This is an informative video on the new International/Traton group S13 powertrain. Simplified modular engine and transmission and moved as far from the cooled EGR as they could. I like the move towards removing complications and tubing connections.

Hopefully this puts IH back on the map as an engine manufacturer. The MaxxForce engines among the other smaller displacement engines pretty much ruined their reputation.

They used a page out of Volvo's playbook on the rear gearing and cruise rpms(called downspeeding). It's a proven method as long as the drivetrain can handle it.

Hopefully they didn't get too "creative" with emissions since VW was involved.

Oh it is very creative. Two def injectors, one behind the turbo and the other inside the "one box", eliminated the egr cooler in doing so, and eliminated the doc. It will be interesting to see the price on this one box when it inevitably fails.

Can some share the lubrication recomendations for this International S3 Power train? Both Engine and transmission. Is only API FA4 Engine Oil allowed or can API CK4 be applied?

Hint: The IH S13 engine has it roots in the Scania 13 litre engine. Scania usually makes quality products.
It’s interesting - double down on SCR instead of EGR. I know in the past Navistar wanted to use a heavy shot of EGR as the NOx strategy to meet EPA2010.

Now if this plays out, I can see others try to copy this. But too bad Cummins has a near monopoly on 3rd party power. The OEs are going towards total integration(Daimler with Detroit selling a 100% Mercedes drivetrain, PACCAR with their MX13, and Volvo with their D Series engine + iShift AMT), while Cummins has bought out Meritor and is a partner with Eaton on AMTs.
