I just got back from Murrays. Taking stock of the prices, I saw M1 5W-40 TDT with one price ($5.99) among the passenger car oils, and with a different price ($5.79) among the truck oils 20 ft away.

I'd chalk it up to some stock boy's oversight, but this is the second time I saw this same discrepancy (20 cent difference for this oil) at a Murrays. First time was in Howell, MI. This time it was in Redford, MI.

Why?

Identical? - yes.

I asked the first time and they said "oops, we'll give it to you at the lower price". Seeing it the second time, different store, with the same 20¢ difference made me curious. I didn't ask, everyone seemed busy. Plus, I didn't need any, I'm a dino user.

This is a good price. I still won't buy it ..even if WM stocked it ..but $24/gallon for the stuff is much better then over $30 for D1.

Could it possibly be that the more expensive batch was from the latest shipment, after the cost price went up? And whoever was in charge of marking prices ignored (or was unaware of)the other location products?

I doubt it. I was in each store about three months apart. Each store had the same oil (same bottle) with the same 20¢ difference.
