That's the strong point! Engine repairs are unlikely even if cared for erratically.
 
i have seen 2 ls engines with sticky relief valves.its rare but not unheard of.no oil pressure on one start with lifter noise and the next ok.

Agree with everyone else. It's not the engine. Engine don't just come back from losing oil pressure. It's the sending unit.

I have only seen one of those despite being exclusively GM here for decades. Oil pressure dropped suddenly during stationary operations. Engine went into limp mode and was repaired with a new pump assembly. Ran like a bear for years after. This one never became "unstuck"...
 
Unfortunately I was telling the truth that my stealer charged me $450 to replace the sender because they had to spend 2+ hours removing the intake manifold to get at it. My 6.2 doesn't have a screen below the sender. When replacing the sender didn't fix the problem, they offered to replace the oil pump for $1700 but because they couldn't guarantee that would fix the low oil pressure at cold start they recommended trading it in.

Any advice?
