If you're new to the diabetic world, contact your insurance company and specifically ask how they treat these kind of supplies. Mine treats them as DME (durable medical equipment), even test strips and lancets. They're certainly not DME in my eyes, but they are in theirs. There are also many programs within insurance companies that get you a free meter once a year, as needed.
Byram Healthcare is an option for supplies, if you're going through insurance. I get my medications from my local pharmacy.

I am on Medicare and not sure if Lantus or Novolog pens are covered.
