We've had our not so positive experiences with cloth type Gazebos in the back yard and this year we purchased a Costco special. All metal 13' octagon model. Weighs 700 lbs. Assembly required

I have a concrete patio which it will sit on.

I am struggling with the best approach to anchoring it. I've reviewed my township codes and could not find any details on the local code requirements. Being octagon, it has 8 legs and my thought was to install a wedge type concrete anchor in the concrete slab- one for each leg. 2 for each leg might be overkill? Anybody have any suggestions or experience with a similar project?? Thanks for any input!

You probably don't want to deal with code requirements because you don't want this classified as a permanent structure (which would make building permits and distance from other structures required). IMO even though it would be bolted to an anchor it would be removable and code not applicable, like a trampoline with stakes in the ground.

I'd be worried about a 700lb kite flying into my house, if you've ever seen a trampoline in the wind you would too. A hammer drill and two anchors per leg sounds reasonable.

Thanks for all the quick replies. The concrete is between 3-4 inches. Probably closer to 3. It is mesh reinforced on top of gravel. I hate to put holes in it, but would hate to have a flying Gazebo too - lol.

Holes are easy to patch.

Check out GRK screws. Their 'Caliburn' concrete screw is da bomb. It can be removed and reinstalled several times

Put 2 hurricane straps on it with cables holding it in place on the inside of where the legs are. Lag bolt the straps to the concrete.
