Or the 'Pennzoil Synthetic Blend' which Wal-Mart carries, and is only a couple bucks more (on the 5 qt jug) than the Pennzoil conventional oil. Additional quarts are around $4.50.

It is the only oil that I'm using anymore... 50% synthetic.

Pennzoil Gold Synthetic Blend should not be assumed it is 50% synthetic. Most blends are a lot more like 70% conventional.

I found some PP at napa for 25ish for 6 qts. I looked at my odometer and I'm almost to 3k since the dealership changed the oil.
Oil life gauge read 33%.

If I happen to do a motocraft oil change in the mix, will that be ok?

You can mix any API SN oil without fear. I would run the same oil at each oil change, but you can switch between brands with no problem at each oil change.

Pennzoil Platinum would be my choice over Motorcraft. It is a fully synthetic oil and should work well in your application.

This all boils down to what you want. Do you have the tools, time, space, etc? Does $39.95+ on an oil change along with 30 mins of driving sound reasonable to you?

Like you said, PP can be had for $25 for a 5 quart jug. Motorcraft filters are under $4.

What you should do is try MAG1 full synthetic oil disguised in Walmart clothing.

I've only had it in for about a week, but so far I'm impressed by the smoothness.

MC is pricey at Walmart considering it's just a blend. I'd buy SuperTech full synthetic for the same money and just change the oil once a year or at 10k miles if you get that far.

I planned on changing it at 5k because its an ecoboost. I've read a lot about the fuel in oil issues and dont want to take any chances. I monitor the oil closely.
