UTAH (CBS 8/CNN) - A dramatic video released Monday shows a driver going the wrong way on a Utah highway and the execution of two PIT maneuvers troopers used to stop the vehicle. The troopers and witnesses say it was one of the strangest things they'd seen.

The video shows a Utah police trooper catching up to the car and, on an initial attempt to force the vehicle to stop, hitting it from the rear bumper. The wrong-way driver corrects the car's positioning and is able to drive away from the maneuver - zig-zagging across multiple lanes along the highway. The trooper hits the car a second time using the PIT maneuver - a immobilization technique used by highway patrol officers to force a fleeing car to abruptly turn sideways, causing the driver to lose control and stop. In the video, the car can be seen flipping on its side, rolling to a stop and eventually ending upside down.

The chase was still not over. A cell phone video from another motorist captures footage of the female wrong-way driver attempting to flee from the police. She is wrestled to the ground all the while being combative with the arresting officers. According to Utah Highway Patrolman Lt. Chris Simmons it took five troopers to subdue the suspect. The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old Natalie Peterson of Ogden. She faces multiple charges related to the incident.
To add she was trying to hijack other vehicles as she tried to flee, and could have killed dozens of innocent motorists.

It's about time we start nipping these insanely selfish and extremely dangerous druggies in the bud, I would pass death penalty sentences for users like this and of course dealers too, if you want to get stoned you better not get caught because in my kingdom we will terminate you.

Why didn't they execute that same maneuver with O.J.?

I suppose in O.J.'s chase the slower speed involved didn't require the officer endangering himself.

The druggie was driving SO crazy.

GOOD JOB Utah cop! ! Kira

Latest reports state that after the she zombie was taken into custody and needed to be taken to the hospital for treatment, it took EIGHT
people to restrain her in order to prevent herself or others being injured. I say she needs the firing squad, or the electric chair.

It happens here too often 2 weeks ago a drunk driving on the wrong side of the road at night with out headlights on killed an innocent woman and oh well himself. Just think most all of these people have driver licenses.

Won't happen.

Each generation has it easier. They slow down a bit more. Move a bit less. Eat a bit more, and a lot of the wrong kind of stuff.

And now there's a pill for just about everything. And don't forget that drink. Smoking is making a comeback too, even tobacco. How about an energy drink, a sleeping pill and a smartphone?

Your car shifts gears, stays in its lane, tells everyone where your are and how fast your going, tells you how to get where you're going and helps you avoid those unnecessary distractions like driving.

And now more than ever we are able to pass on to future generations the worst of our species instead of the best. Nature may be beautiful but nature can also be incredibly cruel. We may live long enough to realize the meaning of the expression, "inherit the wind".

It won't happen because there is a large (and growing) segment of the population that has discovered that they don't need to take personal responsibility for themselves.

Indeed. America's new motto should be: "Everything is someone ELSE'S fault."

Nothing new here except for exciting police or bystander camera's to depict the nuttiness and social media to distribute it beyond regular news. Same stuff always happened but quite boring to read and report about a picture. This is live action.

I think everyone thinks its much worst now, but reality is reporting was much less instant and supporting media rarely available.

This story would have been lame without the footage and no one including me would have cared about the wrong way driver except maybe locals.

I can't believe how calm the cop was. Yeah, she's going the wrong way. Yeah, I rammed her. She's upside down. Yawn.
