good evening,

Since i the outer cv joints are to be greased might as well grease the inner cv joints while its accesible. I would like to grease the inner CV joints on a 1990 toyota corolla. I have read that toyota used tripod joint on the inner cv joints on the 1990 corolla. Here are the greases available to me:

1. Top 1 hi temp synthetic lithium grease spec sheet:https://top1oil.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/10620-10621-10622-10624-10625-10627-PDS.pdf

2. Delo starplex moly ep 2 grease spec sheet :https://cglapps.chevron.com/msdspds/PDSDetailPage.aspx?docDataId=468214&docFormat=PDF

3. Delo Starplex ep 2: https://www.chevronmarineproducts.c...ron_PDS_Greases_DeloStarplexEP2-EP3_v0920.pdf

Delo starplex 2 greases spec sheet says not Recomended for cv joints. 😀 why?

4. Mobil xhp 222 spec sheet:https://pdfgenerator-west.exxonmobi...download/GL-XX-Mobilgrease-XHP-220-Series?p=1

When we bought an inner CV boot from Toyota, the grease supplied was light brown and runny, not the same as outer CV grease. In the real world we just used outer CV grease without any problems.

Is synthtic grease better than mineral based grease?

I like the delo and mobil products as they are name brand, though synthtic grease supposedly resists high temps better and repels water more. I havent heard of this top1 brand until now it is made in the usa

Cheers

Here's another discussion about CV joint grease. https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/tripod-inner-cv-joint-grease.256583/ Personally, I have no idea what would be best. I've had to replace a few CV boots over the years and always just used the supplied grease that came with the new boot. You might check with some of the auto parts stores, they may sell individual pots of CV grease like the ones that come with replacement boots. I would think any high temperature grease would be fine but, that's nothing but my opinion and we all know opinions are like a--holes everybody has one and they all stink.
