I'm rebuilding my CV axles but unsure of what grease to use inside the inner joint (sliding tripod style). I know the outer one uses moly grease (using castrol spheerol lmm for this)
but unsure of what to use in te inner one, I've read conflicting info about this some say moly can be use other strictly advise against it.
Was wondering what type are you guys using

When I re-booted an axle a couple years back, I used Redline CV2 grease in the inner and outer joints. I think the inner joint used a thinner grease from factory, and the outer was thicker (might have that backwards). I called Redline and they assured me that their grease would work great in both joints. They were right. I drove many miles over 3/4 years on that axle before I sold the vehicle. Just clean both joints as well as you can before you put the new grease in. I did a small mix test with the old and new grease, and didn't observe any weird separation FWIW.

Yeah, the inner grease is definitely thinner and very different from the outer one. I asked valvoline and they say their moly grease can be used in both so I might just try using that. But i did hear moly isn't suitable for inner so don't know what to make of it
