Info On Defy?

Just curious about this: I've noticed that both QS Advanced Durability and Defy are getting new labels. This is according to Google images and Quaker State's website. Apparently Defy is now, "Defy High Mileage". Does anyone know if this is just an appearance update? I really hope they aren't changing the formula. I can see why they have adjusted the name, as Defy may have thrown some High Mileage oil customer's off. I personally think it's one of the best High Mileage oils on the market now, and I'd be disappointed if they go the resource conserving route that some other brands have. The new label is cool though, and neater than the outgoing. It's styled like the current syn blend and Full Synthetic labels.

IMO, Defy is poor word choice. For example: why would you want to Defy high mileage in your vehicle? Wouldn't it be better to embrace, support, encourage, advocate, etc. high mileage in your vehicle?

Defy High Price?
Defy Vehicle Longevity?
Defy Practicality?
Defy Reliability?
Defy Availability?
Defy Repeatability?
Defy Value?
Defy Brand Association?
Defy Reputation?

They need a new word.

Makes sense to me, defy time, aging, wear. But whatever I like product n will still use on occasion.

Defy is a great oil, good point on the name though they coulda done better. Adding the high milege tag should clear it up a bit.

I too hope they are not going resource conserving the market is flooded with those not everybody needs or wants them.

I believe it's just a name adjustment and label change myself. Quaker State's website doesn't speak of a formulation change and still promotes the higher zinc levels. Good idea about emailing them, I may do just that. I think QS wanted their High Mileage oil to appeal to a broader market, so they went with "Defy". It's a cool name, but I don't think High Mileage oil buyers really get it. Now, on the new label, "Defy" is in very small red print, and "High Mileage" is in bold, white print.
