Inexpensive Stereo Receiver? 2 chn

^ not 82 but getting there, so do know what you mean.
On one of my systems (one of the spare rooms), I admit that the remotes are a nice feature. Everything else (audio gear) is remote-less.
JJ 828 amp, Sony HD tuner - those have remotes.
I have a JVC A/V remote controlled unit but it's not in use.

One of my other spare rooms - I have the stereo gear on a shelf next to the bed so I can reach over and make adjustments etc. - speakers are across the room.

But 99% of my audio gear is vintage - no remotes / and I don't have any young kiddies around anymore to order them on adjustments I want. Darn...

Sony stuff definitely isn`t what it was in the 70s-80s. I`d never buy anything Sony anymore. Wonder if the same company even makes it?

Is there a 2 channel that, while reasonable priced, will push more than the standared 5x100 watts that is common? I have two Cerwin Vega 12" 3 ways that I had on a Kenwood 5x100w. It works, but when attempting to jam it distorts from lack of power.


Would it be better to look for a 2 channel 150wX2 or so or get a regular receiver and find a pre-amp?

Find a receiver with pre-outs and then look into a decent power amp. Something like this should work well:
