I was able to head to IMS after work this afternoon for the IndyCar open test to catch the rookies and veteran refresher session. Fernando Alonso did not have a spectacular start to his veteran refresher. Came to a stop in turn 2 after sputtering out of the pits.

I had to be standing within 20 feet of you when you filmed that! His engine didn't sound too good. I had to go to a meeting, so I didn't get to stay much longer. Did he wind up getting back out on the track, or was he done for the day?

Small world! I was there with these two grandmonsters rolling up and down the hill.

He finally got out before we left around 6:30. He finished with a best lap of 218.960mph, compared to Ed Carpenter's leading lap of 226.414mph. I read it was a battery issue on Alonso's car.

That's great! I heard they are testing on the road course Monday. Is that true?

Do you know what they coated the track with? It looks great and I hear it has more grip.
