Indeed we ARE the land of SICK

Sick isn't it? What makes people do the things they do..? Speaking of which, I'm watching MSNBC's Stone Philips' interview with Jeffry Dahmer.

Made a long post about today's precocious, promiscuous kids on the "Whoa!" thread. On the flip side, when I was coming up in the bad old days, I still knew families who would not let their 14-year-old daughters even date, except perhaps in a social setting in a crowd with adult family members as chaperones. One religious, conservative family would not allow their daughters to date even as high school seniors, except for special events such as the prom. In the father's view, dating was not a mere social activity, but what you do to find whom you want to marry. I used to think that was a bit strict, but—

Cut to today. Parents allowing a 17-year-old boyfriend to move in with their 14-year-old daughter just blows my mind. Never mind that the boyfriend was really a 30-year-old woman! Society has changed. And not for the better.

Mister ACiD, you posted as I was still keying the above.

I can't figure it out either. But we just had a case in the Southwest of a adult male sex offender posing as a 12-year-old student and attending school, so...

Maybe we should emulate Michael Corleone in the Godfather, when he is in Sicily and is courting Appolonia.
A dozen gossipy women a few feet away at all times, lest their hands touch!

thats truely bizzare. i dont know how one can mistake a 30 year old woman for a teenage boy.

perhaps we are not being told the whole story.

musta had a beard...

This belongs in the National Enquirer section.

If I caught the augmented news clip on this ..it wasn't just "Hey, why don't you move the boyfriend in??" type thing. The she-male (not really) had some sales pitch of having both of he-she's parents either dead or abandoning him-her. That is, although unwise, it wasn't as much an act of neo-liberal stoopidity as it was (what ended up being) the foolish extension of goodwill.

This sort of thing makes me wonder why we worry about human rights violations in China, Africa, etc. at all... People find it so important to worry about that stuff, when it occurs so readily here at home.

At least this got exposed... its sad how much never does...

JHZR2 - I've gotten an up close view of the under culture of our town working through the church in operating a winter season shelter. The condition of the human conscience ...the disturbed depths that some can reach in terms of (for lack of a better term) ..violations..would shock you.

Life is getting very cheap. I've stared into a virtual sewer of humanity ... where being savagely predatory is totally seamless with functional aspects of existence. It always appears to hide in plain sight. Insidious creatures aren't just limited to the swamps.

" Insidious creatures aren't just limited to the swamps. "

I've never been to a city council meeting, visited the state assembly when in session nor visited Congress while it's in session.

Don't think I ever will.

/SOCIAL commentary!!!!!!!!!

It happens a lot in Detroit. In some neighborhoods it's considered acceptable.
