In theory, which would shear quicker?

I think folks worry way WAY too much about how much an oil shears.

If it doesn't drop more than one grade, and the wear numbers look good in the UOAs, then you're in good shape.

I've seen members here overlook some downright awful wear metal numbers in UOAs and merrily fixate on the fact that the oil didn't shear.

Don't fret the shearing issue. Many great oils will shear a grade, especially in a motorcycle application. Look at the wear metal count. That is indeed the most important consideration of the used oil analysis.
