Image resolution change?

Has there been a change recently with image processing? I understand there likely has to be some compression since the default resolution for screenshots and photos these days is so high, but recent photos seem much blurrier than usual. It's difficult to read text on images people post. Thanks.

I’ve noticed this too with recent image uploads.

For example, diagonal lines on the car hood in the attached image below appear to be more jagged than they did in previous uploads from a few months ago:

I bought a set of Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires and Enkei RPF1 rims for my Accord from Tire Rack last year and was thoroughly impressed with the entire customer experience. They beat every other local and online shop's prices for a tire/wheel combo by quite a bit.

Everything arrived mounted, balanced, had all the necessary hardware (centering rings and thin profile Gorilla spline lug nuts), and were well packed for safe shipping directly to my house. I opted to install them myself so I could properly torque everything to spec.

Can you point to an example?

It might be dependent on how large in size the uploaded photo is to start with. If it's super large then the amount of resolution reduction could be more than if the original photo was smaller in size.

Here's one. He clearly took a screenshot of the photo which reduces the resolution considerably, but if you zoom in, it's basically not readable.

I'm using both ... stocked up a while ago when I got a good deal on them. Just put a MicroGard Select on the Tacoma last week (below, added 6 bar magnets) and also put a MicroGard Select on the Coyote last OCI. Got Carquest Premiums on deck for the next OCIs.

Properties of the original on my phone.

Properties of the uploaded and resized photo in my post above. The board upload retained it pretty well for board viewing considering the file size went from 673 KB to 157 KB.

It's an issue of dimensions/pixels in this case. BITOG forum automatically downsizes images to 1024 pixels, be it vertical or horizontal. Since the image/screenshot was in portrait (vertical) mode, vertical pixel count was reduced to 1024. To preserve original proportions (aspect ratio), this caused horizontal pixel count to be reduced down to 470, and that is clearly not enough resolution for content with so much text. The image has a lot of blank space above and below. If he had cropped those areas before uploading to BITOG, the result would have been much better.
