I had to run some erands this morning. I took my 1973 International pickup since I had to take the trash to the dump too.
On my way home I saw a bunch of smoke so I cruised over to it. Someones yard and Pine trees were burning! The big trees were big enough to overhang the roof of the house.
Nobody was home and several neighbors were attempting to stop the fire from spreading to the other lots using shovels and water hoses. There was an 8ft chain link fence with barbed wire on top preventing us from gettin into the yard where we really needed to be.
I backed my pickup to the gate, hooked my towchain to it........And let the 392 and granny 4-speed have it!
I pulled down a little more than the gates though! (sorry bout your gate and fence dude!
)
Everybody rushed in and I grabbed my shovel. A couple of guys with hoses started in on the big trees and the rest of us dug trenches around the house.
We pretty much had it out when the fire dept showed up except for the top of one tree that the hoses couldn't reach.
The fire dept got that out pretty quickly.
