ILSAC and HTHS

I rememebr reading (somewhere) that 30 wt ILSAC engine oils needed a HTHS of 2.9, and 20 wt ILSAC oils a HTHS of 2.6.

I just read the PDS for castrol GTX 10w30 down here, it has an HTHS of 2.8. This seems low?

I think Mobil 1 10w30 has a HTHS of 3.2...

The ILSAC requirement is simply to be in accordance with the SAE J300 definitions, which is a minimum HTHS of 2.6 for a 20 and 2.9 for a 30. (interestingly enough in the 2008 J300 the minimum for 0W-40, 5W-40, and 10W-40 went from 2.8 to 3.5).

All of which makes the reported HTHS for the GTX very odd indeed.
