I am in the process of buying new ignition coils for my 2001 Nissan Pathfinder 3.5L. I have seen price spreads on Amazon and Rockauto ranging from about $35.00 to $85.00 per coil. Does anybody know if it is worth it spending the extra money on these things or should one just go with the cheapest?

I would personally get the Beck/Arnley ones. Their quality has been great and the price is good as well.

Also the $32 Airtex/Wells one is just cylinder 1. There's also only 1 left of the $23 one on Amazon. I would suggest against piecemeal-ing the cheapest plugs.

Given the annoying issues that can be caused by bad ignition coils, I would not go with the cheapest ones. OE coils from a dealer are always worth considering if the cost is reasonable. If not, go for a high quality aftermarket part.

This is an area where saving money could end up costing you more money down the road.

I have replaced #1 and #3 as requested to do by the computer readout. Also replaced an oxygen sensor for the same reason. Now I have a P1320 code that seems to indicate that the way to get that corrected is to replace the balance of the coils. So I plan on doing that along with the plugs. Although it only has about 56,000 miles on it.
