If you had the means to move anywhere in the US today where would that be?

Wife and I have recently discussed moving. She would like to move to the beach....possibly South Carolina. I would like to move into the hills in the Harrisonburg Virginia area.
What about you?

Not the SC coast. We full.

Harrisonburg sounds wonderful :)

In all seriousness, I have lived in Charleston area, on Hilton Head, and in Beaufort SC. If you have questions PM me and I will try to answer as best I can.

If money's no object...

Late summer and early fall near Moosehead Lake, ME and the rest of the year on coastal Maui.

Internationally I'd do 4-NYC, Dublin, Paris and Capetown or Windhoek. I don't know. I'd have to throw in Tangier, Morocco and Santiago, Chile are beautiful as well

Tough call. I'd love a couple hundred acres in Kentucky near my relatives. I'd put a runway and racetrack on it. Vail/Edwards Colorado would be great as there are a TON of bonkers rich people who you could possibly network with.

Coastal California: San Diego all the way up to Carmel (you did say money was no object, lol)

Distant second, stay in my neighborhood but buy 2-6 continuous lots to create some excess green space around a brand new house.

Distant third, coastal Florida along the A1A highway cuz the kids love Universal Studios.
Not sure I would stay in your neighborhood (planet?)-that pesky Death Star would be a constant danger. I would move to the foothills of the Smokies-close enough to have a little snow & hike in the mountains, preferably away from the craziness of a big city. I’ve never been to Cali, sounds expensive & crowded.

Capetown South Africa if you want to be robbed or murdered maybe. Their homicide rate is 8 TIMES higher than in the USA per 1000 people. Their carjacking rate is something like 12 times higher than the USA per 1000 people. Not pretty.

Im fine right where I'm at in northern Minnesota. The political climate really sucks lately, taxes are sky high, but I still love it here. Our farm has been in the family since 1900, so my roots run pretty deep.

Honestly that’s a hard choice since I love the area I’m in now. However I’d probably pick the Midwest like Arkansas, Kansas or Oklahoma or Iowa as I have lots of family roots in all of those places and I’d be closer to more baseball teams than I am now lol.

Harrisonburg is a nice area Walterjay I’m sure you know that. We like to go up there and eat at the Wood Grill and Buffet sometimes.

Maybe someplace in Cape Cod, Mass, outer cape if commuting is off the table and family was not in the current area. Have considered doing it on and off and commuting to Boston given most places are 3 days on site now.

If I moved to the beach I'd never go there. I'd probably float around if I was younger and when I found the ideal place I'd lock it in.
Its been years since I have step foot on a beach. There are a couple restaurants on the beach that I like to go to, but sand sucks. FWIW we live close enough that on the right night we can hear waves crashing.

There is a house in Montecito across from Butterfly Beach that I have wanted for years. But realistically either Mooresville, NC or Welcome/Lexington, NC would be nice.

Take out the LA Basin, the San Diego area, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the Sacramento area, California is desolate. I'm swagging the size of the above areas, but I doubt they comprise 15% of the total land area in California. At least 80% of California is is rural. Vast areas of Cali, beautiful vast areas, are virtually unpopulated. Let me assure you also, that 80% land mass is populated with people who think very differently from the big city California stereotypes.

It reminds me of one of our neighbors when we lived in Colorado. He was from New Jersey and had never been to California, but he was absolutely 100% certain that every single blue sky picture of California in existence was photoshopped because all the skies in California were a smoggy grey color. He actually believed that.

Oregon Coast, Long Beach peninsula in Washington state. I really like Brooking's Oregon....maybe in the next couple years. We shall see.

Our town of Los Gatos is the southern most city in Silicon Valley at the foot of the Santa Cruz Mountain range. Love it here.
I will also say the time I spent in Arlington, TX taught me just how polite, friendly and wonderful people can be.

All good.

I am really happy where I am at in coastal NH. Beach 10 mins, lakes 1 hr, Boston 1hr, skiing/mountains 2hrs .

Mild winters here and distinct seasons which I love.

Certain spots in CA seems to offer similar things with milder weather year round.

money no object go where/when you want?
I'd be a reverse snowbird... Canada and Australia, winter for both.
IE I'd be in Canada right now/ over the holidays/etc, but I'd venture down to OZ when it started getting warm here, cooling off there...

My GF's younger Sister has been daydreaming surfing zillow listings in HI.... tells her mother they should have stayed in HI ( Parents married while both in the Navy stationed, I'm assuming at Pearl...)
"If we had stayed in the Navy and/or Hawaii, we would have only had the one kid( My GF )... you'd never have been born Kari"

Flagstaff AZ area.
Flagstaff got 142 inches of snow last winter including 46 inches in one storm. In town. Is Vermont worse?
If money was no object, the Carmel Highlands in California.

The rescue I volunteer at just had a rez dog adopted by a couple who has a house in Sedona and another in Carmel. Rags to riches indeed.

We do the were would we move to game every 6 months it seems. Came here from Pa in 2005 and can't find anyplace we'd rather be, yet. We did move from 3300' to 5000' in 2018 and don't want it any colder than this.
