Driving past my Local Chevy Dealer today, I had to do a Double take...
Right there, next to the road, was a 2011 Chevy Caprice PPV
2011 Chevrolet Caprice
was NOT expecting to see one of these on a dealer lot ANY time soon, let alone right here in my "backyard" so to speak..

for anyone not familiar with this model, it is a derivative of the Holden Caprice(Longer wheelbase version of the Holden Commodore, Formerly sold here as the Pontiac G8), built in the same plant in Australia, but this model is designed, and refined for the US Police market. You can't just go to your local Chevy dealer and order one, its strictly for Police/public safety use.

If I Only had/could afford to finance $30,000....

Your share of the national debt is about $45 thousand. Write a letter to the Treasury, telling them that you will buy this car if they will deduct the price from the amount of debt "assigned" to you. You are helping the govt., afterall, because it is a Chevy, sold at a Chevy dealership, and GM is mostly still govt. owned.

Ugh. Dude, seriously.
The current Treasury owned share of GM is about 20-30% iirc. That is not "mostly" that is a minor stake at worst.

With all the Aussie GMs brought in the past decade, its a shame Chrysler couldnt have brought in some Valiant Charger Hemi-6s back in the 70s....Now those looked swoopy.

$30k is a lot of money to spend on a used car. I can think of many better options.

Nice! I knew there were some dealers wanting to sell them to the public, but this is the first one I have seen in an online ad.

The dealer knows what they have and have priced it for enthusiasts. Only someone who really wants a newer RWD V8 GM sedan is going to go for a $30K car with rubber flooring and no center console.

I wonder if consoles, carpet, etc. from the Holden versions would swap into the Caprice? I bet people would pay for a more dressed up civilian version. That could be a good business venture for a dealer that can get these cars.

I still want them to bring over the UTE version
me want a new El Camino!!(esp. since the "big 3" have killed their small trucks off)

and then they show me the door and all have a good chuckle

I don't know, I would rather have a Crown Victoria Police Interceptor than this Caprice. At least with the CVPI, it has a well established reliability record. Only time will tell with this new Caprice.

It's proven pretty reliable in Australia, iirc. It's the same exact car, and uses the North American Built V8, it's just assembled in australia.

I was exited when I heard about this car, figured it wouild give the cop car market back to GM.

Still haven't seen one of these up here....Canadian cops are still working through their 'stash' of CVP's.

I know it's an ex-cop car, but the interior of that car has a really dirty, cheap, 'worn' look to it...bleh!

I'd drive a Crown Vic all day.
