If Honda Stopped making ATF what would you use?

If Honda stopped producing ATF DW-1 or any ATF Fluid.... what ATF Fluid would you use?

In my 2002 I would use Redline D4

In my Dads 2004 thats a 5 speed Redline D6

Just wondering what you guys would use.

Or I might use Valvoline Maxlife just 3 QT Drain and fill to give it a try.

Its funny how Honda ATF is one of the most talked about AT Fluids there is.

Probably b/c so many of there AT blow.

I usually don't pay any attention to these "what if" questions, but I would probably use Valvoline MaxLife ATF, or Valvoline Import Full Synthetic.

Maxlife or Valvoline Import.
Both are fully synthetic fluids, are shear stable and are close to the viscosity of the Honda branded fluid.
Incidentally, Honda doesn't make ATF, motor oil or PSF.
These products are made under contract by major blenders.

I've already stopped using Honda's fluid. My Wife's 97 Civic has been using Valvoline MaxLife. I do an annual drain and fill, the car only does 10,000 km a year on average.

In all seriousness though, AMSOIL Signature Series, RedLine D4/D6... Maxlife seems to have some decent specs.
I like the Kv40 and Kv100 of the Amsoil so probably that first....

Meets both DW-1 and Z-1 OEM specs.

I use Valvoline Maxlife ATF in my TSX and also our newly acquired 2007 Honda Accord Hybrid (v6).

It will probably be used in the RDX as well when it's time.

Why do they make it so hard to find that products?

I mean the only way to get them is by way of a catalog correct?

Yea I noticed that.

says so right on bottle..... whats strange is the HIGH MILAGE is ATF Z-1 and dont say DW-1

also the Castrol Transmax Multi Import says Approved... Not Recommended.

Not sure if there is s difference from Approved & Recommend.

Probably means they just paid some fee.

However many here have said MAXX LIFE and that does NOT says DW-1

Probably Okay with a 2002 but 2003 and above is DW-1

I've used Amsoil ATF in the 2006 Honda Odyssey for 110,000 miles. No issues. For 2010 Honda forward, ATL/OTL is what I recommend. ATF/OTF for earlier.

I've used both of the common OTC products, from Valvoline and Castrol, and didn't like either as well as DW-1. So if they quit bottling DW-1, I'd probably try either Redline or Amsoil's offerings.
