I wonder how he got it into the water in the first place?

Moral of the story: Engine stalls when tailpipe is submerged.

The thing that suprises me is just HOW LONG the guy behind the wheel stays in the truck after it starts going in - at the first sign I was loosing the traction race and going backwards, I would have bailed!

The 'ol E-Series kept going for a while though. Kind of funny they ruined a $10,000 van they probably really needed for a $1000 toy.

How much does a utility trailer cost? I'm sure a lot less than either the jet ski or the van. And I can pretty much guarantee you the van already had a class III hitch as new as it was ('04 or newer).

It was still splashing up water from the rear tires about 1 min into the video. As long as the air intake is above water and the water doesn't go too far up the exhaust, it should keep running. IIRC, the air intake for those vans is at the top of the grille just under the hood.

water over the exhaust will NOT stall the motor in a van.

I spent most of the day rescuing flooded folks in a 76 Dodge one day, and I was in water deep enough to splash around in the fan!

Van sat and idled no problem. Changed all the fluids and drove it for two years after with no problems.
