When I was 18 just out of boot camp went to NAS Alameda, they had beer machines in the barracks, 2 bits a can, never had enough quarters.
OMG I can't imagine that LOL. My first stateside duty station, we did a thorough Monday morning barracks cleaning and I was amazed at the massive number of beer cans and liquor bottles coming out of the garbages. I was no shrinking violet to drinking, but I swear some of these guys (and gals) that's all they did from 6pm Friday to 2am Sunday most weekends...
