Yes I watched a second time and it did not make me laugh as hard.

I think the ice cream refers to the mom coming back seeing all heck has broke loose and she has ice cream cones for everyone.

I got a giggle.
As a father of two children, it's always the parent who hunts and gathers (the icecream in this case) that comes back to the carnage of their spouse who can't keep track of two children on two different missions.
