I went with a Donaldson oil filter

I had recently purchased a 1996 Chevy Blazer with 51K miles. Knowing that the vehicle was not driven much, I felt I needed to get a quality oil in and possibly a cleaning. I had put in Mobil 1 and a fram toughguard filter. After a 1500 miles or so I ran a bottle of seafoam through the engine. There was some lifter noise and it began to go away. So when I was ready to change oil I looked over the oil study results, and I was really looking for a high flow filter. Finding that Donalson filters were the exclusive filters at my local Peterbuilt dealer, and since those engines can cost upwards of $20,000, I felt they must be good filters. I have read the posts about how strong some filters are made over others, but after being in the car business for over ten years, and dealing with maintenance on big rigs, I had never heard of an instance of a filter falling apart. I am approx. 800 into my first oil change with the Donaldson filter and Mobil 1 10w30. My oil pressure is the same(as I had expected) with all filters. 40psi at idle when hot, and 60psi when driving. The filter cost me $3.69 with tax and I think I have found my new filter for all my vehicles.

Donaldson is a well respected name in Heavy Trucks and Equipment. I am unfamiliar with their light-duty line and if it is inhouse or outsourced.

It depends.
Like most filter manufacturers, a number are outsourced, such as a P552290, (a Case, Isuzu, Toyota application) which is actually a Baldwin B229, which in itself isn't a bad thing. One of the fuel filters I use is made in Germany, so could be a Mann & Hummel or Mahle.
Donaldson also produce lower volume lines in Mexico, Indonesia (which is where most of the Donaldsons I use come from) and elsewhere. These are Donaldson factories.
