I am trying to imagine how Seacrap could have contributed to the bronze particles. For that matter, I am wondering what part of the engine the bronze particles came from?

For that matter, what type of engine was it?

Yeah, we still don't know what type of engine it is.

I'm assuming he's thinking the metal is from bearing wear.

I don't know if it actual wore the bearings, but I find it hard to believe. An engine idling has hardly no stress put on the bearings. You could probably run it for 10 minutes on water and not get that kind of bearing wear,

.

Its a 94 VR6 with 65k miles. I believe the metal came from the bearings, yes.

I believe that the seacrap dropped the vics, TBN, increased the TAN and stripped any moly plating from the bearings.

I did more then just idling. I held the rpm at about 2-2500rpm, ocassionally revved it to 3-3500rpm and I drove it around my block once with a really light foot just to get the temps up a little higher.

So fine, "Seacrap" damaged your motor and you're sure of it, SUE THEM! You're so darn sure that you know what you're talking about and that you understand oils, engines, bearings etc. SUE THEM FOR CAUSING DAMAGE TO YOUR ENGINE!

I can just see you in court,

"Sir, you say you saw little gold particles in your oil, did you save some of the oil and have it professionally analyzed?"

"Well, no, I was just really mad at the time and I dumped it."

"Well sir, how do you know that is was the Seafoam that caused this alleged damage to your engine?"

"I just know, that's how."

"Did you tear the engine down and examine the bearings?"

"Well, no, I just KNOW they're damaged and I want them to pay!"

Wow ..how did this topic slide past me

Please ..allow someone the initial opportunity to rant. It's not a favorable posting technique ..but it happens. Then, instead of calling them defective ..try offering alternative schools of thought.

"Hmm ..what makes you think that it's from bearings? I don't know your actual experience here, but I've used it several times and would find it hard to figure how this could occur as you describe."

Now admittedly this is about as warm and fuzzy as it gets ..and I haven't always subscribed to this techique myself...but it is a preferred method of enlightenment.

First, who said anything about sueing? I still have the oil actually, and I could get it analyzed if I wanted. If you want I can take pics.

And as sure as I am about the seacrap causing the damage, your just as sure it didn't.

Look I really don't care if you use Seafoam or not, but I'm done with it. I just shared my experience, and you can take from it what you want.

Thanks for sharing. Really.

Are you going to share with Sea Foam? I am sure they have a contact email address on their website. They might be able to give you some insight on what you saw?
