M1 is perfect for what you're trying to do, either the 0w-30, 5w-30, 5w-30 EP, or even the 5w-30 HM, any one of them will work perfectly fine for you. Neither of your vehicles is under warranty any more, but just a heads up the 5w-30 HM is SL oil.

Get the M1 oil you want to use, get two 5-quart jugs and use the M1 rebate currently available to get $12 back off each jug.

You can go with other oils if you want, and I don't think you can pick a bad oil if you stick with all the big name brand synthetics (M1, Pennzoil, Quaker State, Castrol, Havoline, Kendall, Shell, etc.).

The additives are also up to you. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone unless they had an issue with their engine they're trying to solve. But it's entirely up to you.

i totally agree with everything you just said, synthetic can make existing leaks worse on older cars
also i change at 3,000 regardless of what oil i use

Don't get caught up in all this hype. The key is when to know at what time to change the oil. I know too many people who use house brands and have several hundreds of thousand miles accrued. Use SN rated oil of the recommended weight.
