I need a good free email SPAM blocker program

The last 2 ISP's I've had I've never received any spam.

I'm using Thunderbird http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird/ although to be fair the program is still in its infancy and since I don't get spam, I can't comment on spam blocking abilities.

Check with your ISP first-many of them have spam filtering that you can turn on via a web utility. With my ISP I get a report every morning of the suspected spam. I review the report and release any that should be allowed through.

While not free, for about 20 bucks MailFrontier makes an excellent spam filter. If my ISP didn't have a spam filter and my email client (Eudora) didn't I would use MailFrontier.

In thunderbird you can setup rules regarding moving/deleting/forwarding email based on certain criteria such as keywords however unlike Outlook it appears to require manual execution as opposed to automatically running against your Inbox. I agree it is still in its infancy however its not bad and I enjoy its RSS function while hating its newsgroup ability or lack thereof.

Thunderbird 1.5 auto runs the message filters. I have it setup on my home computer. It is not officially released (beta..?).

TB 1.07 did require manual Filter operation IIRC.

I agree Al. I expected the same dumpy, crappy service when I moved into cablespeed zone (Millenium is our CATV provider). Their customer support is a bit light and hickish, but the service is great and ZERO freaking SPAM.

Funny thing I just had my first issue with them and sent them an email about some of my incoming email bouncing:

Hi Paul, we were having problems with some mail server blacklists. As of yesterday we are unsubscribed from these services, so all mail should be going through now. Please let us know if you have more problems getting mail.

Can someone define "mail server blacklists" for me?

If you have dial-up just get a gmail or yahoo account. Then you won't have to download all those junk e-mails.

Otherwise thunderbird works great.

This is what I use. Using the FREE Spamfighter Standard version they attach a few add lines at the bottom of each email you send but so what.

You can also review the emails that it filters to make sure nothing good has been filtered. It also has an editable White and Black list function.

I like it.

MailWasher version 2.0
You do not have to download the spam, you can delete, bounce and blacklist it. Also it will tell you if an email contains a possible virus.
