i miss my first car

I hated my first car (the 81 245dl) The SU was never working properly, and nobody could service it.

Now my second car...that was an amazing little machine. It was an 84 Rabbit with stick and hatchback. Dead simple to work on and pretty quick. The 1.7 had a rod knock so my mechanic dropped in a 1.8 from a Fox. I also had a cherry bomb exhaust on it that would awaken the neighbors.

Boy that thing was fun. I still have fond memories of my buddies and I tearing around our city.

I have considered getting a nice restored 84 GTI for the nostalgia of it, but I already know I would tire of it quickly.

I'd rather reminisce about the old memories, than try to relive them

Friend has an almost restored 86 RS coupe with a sunroof (mine had one as well). Besides being a bit smaller than I remember, it was still a fun drive...

A friend back in HS had one of these, they did handle really well.

I could drive this everyday, as it has the better engine.

Back in 2007, a Coworker was working on a Pontiac variant. It had some kind of iron block engine, that is why it survived. The reason it was in for repair was the carb failed, and replacements or rebuilds are hard to get.

My wife(40) who is on her 2nd car 2005 Legacy turbo wagon misses her first car on occasion.

Her first car was a 90ish Mazda 323 turbo her dad got at auction.

Was the 323 AWD too? They make great ice racing and rally cars and guys will pay for one in good shape.
The first car I owned was a 2 door 81 Olds Omega Brougham in 2001, 2.8 V6.
I liked it well enough, I put a decent stereo in and I could fit my bike in the trunk. I actually kept in pretty clean and the chrome and whitewalls all shined up.

My first was a '64 Falcon 170 six three on the tree. It was a good car, but I didn't really like it all that much. The 2nd was a '65 Pont GP 421=wish I still had that one.

Got my license in 64 and my first car was a 63 Plymouth Valiant with a slant six and push button 3 speed. Shared the car with my sister. Wouldn't mind having it back. It was about bullet proof.

My first car was a '72 Ford (Mercury really, even though it didn't say Mercury anywhere on it) Capri 2600 V6. I loved that car. European Mustang. Eventually rusted to pieces. Would still kick yuppie BMW [censored] to the end. Would like to find one today, think they're all rusted to pieces.

My father bought me a workshop manual, and showed me where the tools were. If I had any questions he was glad to help me out.

my 1st car was a 1976 Mitsu (rebranded as Plymouth Arrow) Celeste 1.6L hatchback, silver in colour, running MCA engine (their best attempt to mimic Honda CVCC to pass EPA emissions standards). Carb'ed, need to cover the rad when weather hit -20F or more to warm up, leave springs on rear (RWD), etc. 4spd M/T gearbox, etc. It was a blast to drive back then when gasoline was around 80c/gal.


of course: given the price of gas: you folks would have figured out by now approx. when I learned to drive...*grin*
