This is my favorite time of year. The absolute best trout fishing all year, perfect temps, clean crisp dry air, beautiful scenery with the trees changing colors. I love it!

It'll sure suck in about 2 months though

I agree. Even with the neck surgery upcoming, I'm not going into depression as the daylight shortens (come on Dec 21/22).

Honestly? Somehow with the dogs - I'm quite cheered. I take them for a walk almost every evening now. Weird. Maybe not so weird.

Drew,
Totally agree. Here in the Northeast it is absolutely fabulous. Local H.S. football games on Friday nights, College football on Sat. pros on Sunday, baseball play-offs starting soon. What more could a guy ask for? Octoberfest brews are arriving at local stores now! If you have kids each year brings new challenges for them as well. Right now its close to 90 F and I'll take all of that as it is running 15 degrees warmer than average.

It's 68 degrees here, Aspen trees are bright yellow in my yard, and I literally can not see a cloud in the sky, ANYWHERE.

I forgot about football! Yes, FOOTBALL!!!!!!

This is nuts; I can get on my roof in about 5 seconds (love checking out the stares!). From horizon to horizon, east to west, north to south, crystal clear blue sky.

yep deer season (bow season preferably) good trout fishing. beautiful colors, beautiful weather no more 90+ days (well in NC it can get up to 90 on up to mid october and sometimes later).. cold beer, football games.. wow. the list goes on.. i do not like winter though the shortened daylight (go to work in the dark, come home in the dark) depresses the ---- out of me. for some reason i dont know but i dont like it at all.

My favorite months in CA: March through November.
My favorite months in New England: September and October.
My favorite months in Germany: May and, yeah, just May.

I love fall too. Unfortunately, it's almost 90 here today. I hate summer. Especially when it interferes with fall.

I don't mind fall, but I hate what follows it.

No sun, colds, flu, cabin fever, everything is dead, ice, traffic accidents galore. haaaaa. Can you tell I hate winter? If I lived in Colorado, I'd bet I would have a different attitude towards winter. You guys get more powder snow then we do and you have awesome mountains to ski on. We have "hills" that some like to call mountains.

I feel the same as Buster. I am not only 240 miles from Denver and get all the snow but without the mountains to ski on.

Was reading in New Scientist about a new cancer treatment, injecting cancer sufferers with cells from "cancer resistant" individuals.

works well in the petri dish.

The scariest thing that the article said was that they had found nobody who was cancer resistant during winter months.

Vitamin D ????

Anyway guys, heading into winter, make sure you get enough sun...it's been linked to UK suicides, other illnesses etc.

Look at WWII hospitals...everyone was wheeled out into the sun for a couple hours every day.

Back on topic, spring and autumn are equally awesome. Summer can be a tad too hot, and winter a tad too cold (wore a jacket a dozen times the winter just gone, it's an incredible year)

Its my absolute favorite time of year especially in New England. The air smells incredible with the colorful leaves (I assume rotting) on the ground.

My non-native trees in the yards are already changing about 50%, a Japanese Lilac, Japanese Tea Crab Apple and Ginkgo trees.

Its the one time of the year I go on long winding drives for the heck of it with my wife and child. Hopefully my wife will go for it with a new baby due any minute.

Our heat wave is back. 96f yesterday. Still looking forward to the fall season. We now have county wide water restrictions 24/7. Big fines if your caught doing more then peeing on the lawn. One of the first offenders ticketed was the water dept.

We have lawn police everywhere. Neighbors ratting on neighbors.

I'm waiting for folks to start shooting each other.

Actually, it an interesting distraction form the ongoing illegal aliens/gang wars news.
