This song made me cry of happiness and sadness:

Made in America

Made In America Lyrics

my old man's that old man,
spent his life livin' off the land,
dirty hands, and a clean soul.
breaks his heart seein' foreign cars,
filled with fuel that isn't ours
and wearin' cotton he didn't grow

he's got the red, white, and blue flyin' high on the farm
semper fi tattooed on his left arm
spends a little more at the store for a tag in the back that says u.s.a.
won't buy nothin' that he can't fix,
with wd40 and a craftsman wrench
he ain't prejudice he's just, made in america

his wife, she's that wife that decorates on the 4th of july
but says "every day's independence day"
she's golden rule, teaches school,
some folks say it isn't cool but she says the pledge of allegiance anyway.

got the red, white, and blue flyin' high on the farm
semper fi tattooed on his left arm
spends a little more at the store for a tag in the back that says u.s.a.
won't buy nothin' that he can't fix,
with wd40 and a craftsman wrench
he ain't prejudice he's just, made in america

born in the heartland, raised up a family
of king james and uncle sam
got the red, white, and blue flyin' high on the farm
semper fi tattooed on his left arm
spends a little more at the store for a tag in the back that says u.s.a.
won't buy nothin' that he can't fix,
with wd40 and a craftsman wrench
he ain't prejudice he's just, made in america

made in america
made in america

my old man's that old man,
he's made in america

america!

New country music just doesn't have the soul of the country I like. You listen to Steve Earle, Chris Ladoux and others and you here soul in there songs.

With the economy down, jobs and homes being lost I hope it brings some meaning back to music

I've never heard the song, just reading the lyrics it looks to be the usual appeal to emotion and saccharine meaningless words. Modern country doesn't do it for me.

But put on some Hank Williams Sr., Merle Haggard or Johnny Cash - now those words had some real meaning, pain, struggle, emotion & hard life behind them!

Thanks, that's a great song too.

Please don't start that. Majority of Craftsmen are still Made in America. I posted this song because it's optimistic about American. Too many [censored] out there being too pessimistic about America.

It is interesting how meaningful the Craftsman name is, I never really gave it much thought until the recent threads here in BITOG forums. I hope Sears is able to see what the attachment to that iconic brand means to many Americans, almost like apple pie and Chevrolet. Keeping it "Made in the USA".

Agree with the Steve Earle, but you can also add James McMurtry's "We Can't Make It Here Anymore" to that (along with most of the rest of his songs)!

If there is ONE thing Tejas does BEST, it is produce some of the greatest songwriters this country has ever heard!!

I was going to mention that, until Popinski said "I posted this song because it's optimistic about American. Too many [...] out there being too pessimistic about America."

Toby Keith has some gooduns, but that McMurtry song is the direct opposite of "Made in America." "We Can't Make It..." came out around '05 or '06, and I'll bet it has never darkened the airwaves of a mainstream country station.

Of course not, since he is considered way too 'leftist' for mainstream, conservative, Clear Channel owned, country stations.

I personally like the song. I think there is a lot of good modern country. Alan jackson , Justin Moore, brantley Gilbert, Craig Morgan, George strait and a lot more but there Is a lot of great stuff from back when I love hank merle and Charlie daniels.

How about this for a catchy country music song title:

I don't like country music but I like this song
