I'd loved to have been a fly on the wall after all you visitors left.

Self checkouts should recieve an across the board discount, as you eliminate the need for an employee [actually, YOU are the employee!].

I totally agree, but it isn't ever going to happen, and you know it.

I found out I'm much faster with the self-checkout than some bored cashier, so in some perverse way it's really for my convenience, but I still hate the self-checkout out of principle. If it's available as an option, fine. But to force the customer to bag his own junk while cursing his wrinkled, stained money, is just not to my liking.

The self check outs get annoying. They keep telling you to bag your items like you're a retard that doesn't know what the bags are for.

I hated the lunch lines in high school. My school had like 7-8 different choices of food. You could be the fifth person in line but before you know it you would be the next to the last person in line when the person in front of you let 5-6 of their homie g's cut. The teachers didn't do anything since they aren't always standing at the lines watching. A few times people actually had the nerve to ask me if they could get in front.

There were a couple times when I went to the grocery store and only got a few things, the nice old lady in front let me go before her.

Well, at my local Home Despot you have no choice. Unless it's a very busy day, there is no manned checkout for small stuff.

Home Depot and Lowes are a bunch of money grubbing selfish b@stards. All they care about is that profit margin; they don't want to pay any hours out. They want to have 95% sales and only 5% hours. The self checkout at Lowes is always manned by some cute little girl doing the same job as if she were using a regular register. Nobody goes to that self checkout unless their is someone there willing to do the transaction for them.

I've yelled at a couple of customers trying to use the thing. I say "HEY, DO YOU REALIZE THAT YOU'RE HELPING TO TAKE JOBS AWAY FROM PEOPLE?!!!" After they hear me say that they usually turn red in the face, turn around and leave the store without buying anything.

Groucho, don't sweat it, there are about 200 million little centers of the universe walking around this country. You're bound to annoy some of them once in a while.

A very astute observation. No one need read any other explanations than this.

I think letting someone directly behind you ahead when others are in line is okay and does not require anybody's approval, since it doesn't delay the wait for anyone but you. Letting others in that weren't in line would definitely require approval to be considered acceptable to me though.

I actually think we should aim for a world where noone has to do unskilled, monotonous jobs. If we, as a society, can produce the same amount with less physical work, that's a good thing. Replacing human labor with more efficient means of doing things is fundamental to our advanced society.

I still haven't used a self-checkout though. It just seems strange to me that I'm the one responsible for making sure I'm paying the correct amount for the things I'm buying.

Who's this Noone, I keep reading about? Peter?

I don't see an idyllic society happening soon. There will always be Morlocks.

Don't worry, you are being watched by some skilled person with a top-notch job.
