I was at Walmart looking to buy either Castrol Blend or Valvoline Durablend...both were out of stock.. They only had 3 quars to Durablend, and 4 of the Castrol Blend. Then I was standing there looking at the price of the blends with tax comss to just bout 18.00, and looked over and saw the Mobil 1 full syn for 19.XX, with tax would be 21.XX and I'm thinking to myself, no why should I bother with those blends when Mobil Full Synthetic is only 2-3 dollars more? What a joke... Plus, the Mobil oils are ALWAYS fully stocked, so I grabbed the 5qt jug of Mobil and I've bot synthetic in my van now. Here's the kicker, many of you who know me by now realize I like to change often, but I'm thinking I have got to get over it and go 4-5k at the very least on this synthetic. The first OCI I'm going to keep short at around 2-3k only because I've never ran full synthetic in this engine. And yes, I didn't bother with the ARX treatment. Fingers crossed.

I will say this, the placebo affect of having the best oil in there makes me feel fuzzy all over even though a conventional would serve me just as well. But like I said, I was dead set on the blend, so I can't justify not spending the extra 2 dollars for the real deal.

Yeah, well, perhaps I should have said, the best oil compared to what I have been using. I'd still bet anyone I could get 300k out of my engine running conventional, but simply wanted to run a blend due to the many short trips of 1 mile and less in extreme temps of hot and cold, so perhaps a synthetic is better on this particular motor. It has 76k on it right now, and just started using synthetic today. I know that 4-5k is considered low mileage for synthetic, but it will take my about 5 months to get there, so I'll feel confident to dump it after 5 months.

Wait until your extended family hears you're using Synthetic. You'll be getting calls from third cousins you never knew existed looking for a free ride.

Oh boy you did it now. If you don't go a kabillion miles on that oil every OCI folks will accuse you of "wasting" oil and tell you to just use a conventional for 5K and less OCI's. Just tell em you love your car and only want the best for it

Then run hide!

I'm already hiding

.. LOL.. Yeah..well, truth be know, I do love my ride, and can't afford to trade my vehs like my friends do, mine go with me to the grave, if I could make that at all possible. The cheapest car is one that is paid off..

Congratulations on your choice of oil. It's sure to provide you with many years of carefree automobile maintenance.

(visions of Obi-wan as Luke said that he could feel the remote with the blast shield down)

You've just taken your first step into a larger world.

My friend gave me a brand new case of 05w/30 M1 oil "6 qt case" I returned it to walmart and bought some Delo 400 15w/40.
