After initial charge of the phone, it forced an update to 17.6.1 which does not seem to have a way to check battery charge cycle count like it was possible in older versions of ios

I don't know any iOS that had this information. You had to use a 3rd-party tool like "Coconut" that runs on Macs or some other tool.

The newer (15 and up?) pro phones have it. You can also find it in one of the analytics files on any iPhone. Friend of mine has an iPhone 8 Plus ( yeah I know), and his is in the file.

Mine shows 103 percent in the analytics file because it calculates based on the design capacity.

I just bought refurbished iPhone 12 mini from eBay 3 weeks ago. Been pretty happy with it, it replaced my problematic X which I also bought used on eBay a couple of years ago. I paid $210 all in for the 12. They did a great job on the refurbishment, the phone literally looks new. Not that that really matters, but it was a nice surprise.

Apple said IOS 18 is it for iphone 11. So.....this phone is already on it's last update.

OP - I would be very concerned with security if you use this for any banking, shopping, etc. Once apps are updated past IOS 18, they will probably cease to function on this phone. Honestly, see if you can get a refund. This isn't going to play out well.

It’s not unheard of for apple to push security only updates to old devices.

Also, for everyone wondering I bought the last iphone that is 4G only. Keep that mm wave 5G trash out of my head!

I still have an iPhone 11 Pro Max I use as a point and shoot camera since the Smart Battery Case has a shutter button. The last of its kind for its form factor and the last for the smart cases before they went to Magsafe Battery Packs (and that got discontinued too).

Taken with iPhone 16 Pro Max which has that new built-in camera control button.

That lump is the extra battery built into the case to add extra battery capacity.
