Hyundai PSF-4 Power Steering Fluid

I've seen this TSB before but what I'd like to know is what the heck is PSF-4???? PSF-3 was spIII I'm fairly sure. I saw a link to some motul webpage that claimed they were the same so what is this PSF-4? I'm just going to use amsoil atf in my my transmission and ps in my sonata. Or maybe just give in and use AMSOIL power steering fluid but I dont know. The only thing I need to figure out is if I'd be better off with the old thinner atf or with the new thicker atf or the psf.

Basically a highly overpriced dealer/OEM only fluid. What's so magical about it I dunno. I've heard it quiets a cold noise issue that was once present.

So the only thing is it must be thinner than spIII and psf-3 so I guess that means we should use old amsoil atf or maybe even the new atl? Can atl be use in ps systems?

Really it's all speculation at this point. PSF-4 has been around since ~2007 and yet there's still no data out there. I really find it hard to believe there's 'mixability' issues with it. AFAIK, you could use what ever you want in there provided you purge the PSF-4 out. I only intend on 'turkey bastering' my PSF reservoir a few times. I just hate the thought of having to go to a dealer parts counter for a darn PSF!

with the rumors out their that sp-III is nothing more than chrysler's atf+3, and that psf-3 is sp-III.

the logical jump in assumption would be to make is psf-4 is chrylser's atf+4. seeing how hyundai, chrysler, kia and mitsubishi are sharing alot of the same technologies (i.e. the world engine and past transmissions). this is just a theory however. we would need a lab and a chemist to prove. mike
