Reference my Santa Fe Sport 2.0T, I read the maintenance section of the owners manual twice. There is no required viscosity, only recommended: sections/pages = 8.7 & 8.8/579 & 580

*1 : For better fuel economy, it is recommended to use the engine oil of a viscosity grade SAE 5w30 (API SM / ILSAC GF-4).

If the API service SM engine oil is not available in your country, you are able to use API service SL

Even the recommendations are rather lenient.

cool you don't have to run that 5w20 CAFE [censored]. I like a little cushion between my bearings. (Sorry guys)

Yup Hyundai knows if you use a 5w20 in any engine it will grenade.. Thats why you see hundreds of thousands of vehicles dead on the road everywhere you go with their 10 year 100,000 mile warrantee.

Mazdaspeed3 and possibly the Mazdaspeed6. 2.3L turbo. They apparently came with the same owner's manual as the Mazda 3, which spec'ed 5W-20 until the time they started recommending 0W-20.

My 1991 Audi 200 Turbo did, weather permitting of course. They also didn't threaten you with death if you put 20w-50 or a monograde in there, either.

AllData lists 10w30 or 5w30 for this vehicle with the standards that you have listed.

In most owners manuals, the term "recommended" is used for engine oil, not the term "required".

Wemay....you have already made your mind up to use a 40grade so GO AHEAD AND USE WHAT YOU WANT! Pick a brand out. Obviously, the plenty of more than adequate 30grade lubes for the turbo you dont want to use. So use the 0w-5w/40 you want.

2009-2010 (possibly 2011s too) Ecoboost V6 in the SHO, Flex, MKS, and MKT. It wasn't till the f150 got the Ecoboost that Ford put all EBs on 5W30.
And they never back spaced the car engines.

5w20 what the 2010 Hyundai 2L turbo is speced at and is the factory fill. But they add 5w30 too.

They have since gone to just 5w30.

Chubbs1, I laughed after reading your post. Not knowing me at all, you know me to well. I did change it this morning with the T6. :-)

Agreed!

I actually haven't seen a lot of "impressive" used oil analysis for Hyundai/KIA's on 5w20's. Kinda makes me think their pushing of it is more of a "me too CAFE" kind of thing than any real engineering feat or research. Our KIA will be getting 5w30 as soon as I burn up the rest of the 5w20.

Not much of a risk by Hyundai though, of course they'll make it out of warranty easily on 5w20 even if it is less than optimum.

We all know what oil you're running because it's in your signature at bottom of your post!

That's odd. My Speed6 with the same engine and near same output was spec'd for 5w30. I think there is something posted somewhere having Mazda via a TSB make this revision.
