Hyundai filter drain plug update

So changing the oil on the wife’s 2022 Kona with the 2.0 Smartstream and the new OEM filter comes with a redesigned filter plug. With the new plug you can’t fit a socket on the housing. You must drain the filter first.

Pretty sure a 3/8 drive with extension fits right up into that little plug. That's how I do mine.

They did that because out of the box the old one would fall in the new filter, get stuck, and not be noticed by people not paying attention. Good number of engine failures as a result.

They should have just stuck with the tried and true spin-on filter.
