My 2024 model has no reservoir tanks. There's a 3/4" top fill plug and a side port plug. I was told to remove the filter, drain the oil and then refill through the top fill plug till the oil starts to come out of the side port plug which I also removed. Based on my serial number the amount of oil to fill was to be 56.5 oz. I filled 55.5 oz when oil started to come out of the side port plug. I'm guessing there was 1 oz still in the gear. After waiting for the oil to stop coming out of the side port I replaced both the side port plug and top fill plug. I started my mower and pushed the steering handles back and forth till any noise disappeared from the gears. Did I do it correctly? Did I miss anything? I seem to be one of the first to change the gear fluid on the BadBoy mower without reservoir tanks.

Are you speaking about the breather vent? If so, I thought any additional air would escape through this vent.

Minute 0:43 shows the bypass on this Scag. This video shows the correct procedure to avoid transaxle damage. Keep everything operating-room clean.

Ok. Thanks. BadBoy calls them bypass levers or neutral bars. They need to update their manual for those with internal expansion tanks. I don't have exterior reservoirs like yours for hydraulic oil. There's no mention of how the breather vent next to the fill port works either.
